Full publications on
this site are stored in one of two file formats: pdf or djvu. The
viewer for pdf files is the Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be
downloaded for free from Adobe. The viewer
for djvu files is a browser plug-in, which can be downloaded for free
from LizardTech (for Windows and Mac
users; 900 KB) or SourceForge (for UNIX/GNU/Linux
users). The djvu format compresses scanned images much more
effectively than does the pdf format, resulting in smaller file sizes,
sharper images, and much faster downloads. Most of the
publications on this site that were published before 2000 are available
as djvu files.
